In a thrilling final week of Burntwood Monday, a 6-a-side football league, teams across four divisions fiercely battled it out to determine the season's champions.
In the Premier League division, Burntwood FC clinched the title with 23 points and 11 victories to their name. Their Match of the Day game against Scrambled Legs saw them securing a narrow win with an emphatic scoreline of 6-5. Sheffield Monday tried their very best and also displayed their prowess on the field, trouncing Norton FC with a resounding 5-0 victory. Alas it was not enough as the Burnt Boys went into the night with the advantage… Exactly the tense kind of end to a season which we love to see!
Division 1 saw Watto Club emerge as the winner with an impressive tally of 27 points and 13 wins. It was by some margin over the chasing pack too! They ended their season on a high note, watching Leomansley FC fall 7-1 to Harriers and Whopper Walsh securing a 1-0 triumph over Paquetà Crisps FC.
In Division 2, McGinn N Tonic claimed the top spot with 19 points and 8 victories. Expected Toulouse and Patty Freaks FC produced an exciting match, with the latter team scoring a decisive 7-2 win. Unfortunately for them it was just shy of the result they needed… Meaning McGinn won the league on goal difference alone! In other news, Davos Diddy Party and Monday Warriors also engaged in a tightly-contested game, which ended 2-1 in favor of the Warriors. A narrow miss out on 2nd place for them. What a tight division this turned out to be!
In Division 3, P M T FC emerged as the champions, accumulating 25 points with 12 wins in their kitty. Basic FC showcased an outstanding performance, routing No Name FC 9-0, while PSV Hangover fell 5-0 to Kepa Clean Sheet. Unfortunately for Kepa it was not enough as PMT got their win, they had to settle for second spot - tantalisingly close to the coveted trophy…
This final week of the season concluded with high-intensity fixtures and showcased the talents of the top scorers across all divisions. The league ended on a high note, with each division crowning their deserving champions. It was a season marked by impressive displays of teamwork, skill, and sportsmanship.
