The Solent and University of Southampton Monday 6-a-side league of Cantell School
The first match of the evening saw ‘Poutsoi FC’ take on ‘Lads on Toure’. In a largely well-tempered encounter, ‘Poutsoi FC’ controlled proceedings with greater possession and chances on goal but ‘Lads on Toure’ ensured the scores remained level. However, a burst of anger from one of their players subsequently led to the sin bin, and ‘Poutsoi FC’ capitalised on the temporary extra man to score the only goal of the game. Secondly, ‘Put Matip In’ faced ‘ISOC FC’ and quite possibly earned the fastest ever goal from kick-off in Leisure Leagues history. Within a matter of minutes, the vastly dominant ‘Put Matip In’ were a few handful of goals to the good, reaching 5:0 by the 10 minutes mark.
A few rare counter-attacks by ‘ISOC FC’ were well executed but their opponents still ploughed on, with the final score 10:3. This, perhaps, suggests the game was closer than it actually was. Lastly, ‘Madeleine Milan’ played ‘Cereal Killers’ in an end-to-end match that oscillated between the two teams. Remarkably, just as with the latter game, ‘Ceeral Killers’ scored immediately from kick-off; the exact time was not recorded but it was certainly within the first five seconds – even quicker than ‘Put Matip In’!
Soon enough, ‘Cereal Killers’ had stormed to an early 3:0 lead but the quality of their opposition showed as they managed to pull the game level at 3:3. ‘Cereal Killers’ struck again but ‘Madeleine Milan’ dominated the last five minutes and equalised with time to spare, finishing 4:4.
