SOLENT/UNIVERSITY OF SOUTHAMPTON MONDAY 6-A-SIDE LEAGUE AT CANTELL SCHOOL

‘VSOC FC’ vs ‘Black Swans’ – and they certainly delivered!  In a highly entertaining game of end-to-end football, ‘Black Swans’ – all members of ‘HistSoc FC’ – emerged victors by outscoring their opponents 7 goals to 5.  Despite having no substitutes, ‘VSOC FC’ performed remarkably well for the full duration of the game but it became evident that their tiredness and desire to push forward left gaping holes at the back, which the ‘Black Swans’ striker clinically exploited.  It was a great game of friendly, yet competitive, football to watch.  In the shadow of that game, ‘AFC Fraudlands’ took on ‘Sholing Boys’.  

Having been thoroughly warned about discipline, ‘Sholing Boys’ were on their best behaviour, pushing the against the line of firm football.  In a tense and nervy encounter, neither team took the imperative early on. However, with greater possession and ability to keep the ball, ‘Sholing Boys’ eventually took the lead after patient build-up play.  ‘AFC Fraudlands’ did well to equalise on a surprise counter-attack but a mistake at the back cost them an easy goal to concede and the scored remained 2:1.
