Exeter not Gently in six a side thrashing at Gerard Buxton

It is the best pitch for miles around, with bar staff that are always willing to let you brag about your exploits on the football pitch. But the best thing about the Gerard Buxton Sports Ground is that every Monday night between 20:00-21:30 the place is alive with the sound of teams playing six a side. It was another superlative night in the Leisure League Swindon Monday six a side in Royal Wootton Bassett with all teams in attendance and giving their all.

In the nights first game Hardley Athletic got over the disappointment of last weeks thumping by Bailey's Boys to get a great result against this seasons surprise package Athletic Bilbo Baggins. While Hardley were dynamic and pacy while Athletic looked tired and heavy footed. Dan Clarke pulled the strings from defence pinging balls into dangerous positions for his men to run onto. Athletic couldn't live with this style of play and eventually fell to a comprehensive 5-0 loss.

MOM: Dan Clarke

Iwan Floyd's men came into this game on the back foot after late withdrawals through injury. However, they quickly got over the disappointment to turn the screw on FC Guava who have struggled after a tough start to the season. However, the boys in red seem to have finally found their feet and were much better organised in this game. The two sides in many ways cancelled each other out and in the end a draw was probably a fair result.

MOM: Iwan Floyd

Who Ate All Depays had another great night in the league with a comprehensive win against Sloblins. Jason Hiller's men were dynamic in attack creating chance after chance and were solid in defence. It is clear that these lads have been playing together for years and they look a really solid outfit that will cause plenty of headaches for teams this season. Adam Conduit was particularly impressive rolling back the years to playing from box to box and turning defence into attack before you could blink your eyes. A truly impressive performance from the lads in orange

The game of the night saw last seasons champions Gangsters Allardyce go up against this seasons early leaders. It was game that ebbed and flowed between the two and it was clear that this was the sternest test that Bailey's had faced since joining the league. Gangsters took advantage of the absence of Bailey's first choice keeper to score the first goals they have conceded all season. Ultimately though Bailey's were just too good with key playmaker Neves running the show for the boys in blue. If Gangsters cannot stop Bailey's Boys it begs the question: who can?

MOM: Neves

The Underdogs looks completely lost in the league when they made their debut a few weeks ago. Last week represented an improvement but they were still comfortably beaten. So to go two a team that have impressed since joining the league and beat them 5-0 is a remarkable achievement. Captain of the Unplayables Justin Rivers lambasted his players after the game, claiming the result was simply not good enough but credit must go to the boys for the way they exploited their opponents weaknesses.

MOM: Joey Hall

The last game just showed how the level of quality has increased since last season. In that campaign 2 Goals 1 Cup went close to winning the title. However, last night they were completely outclassed by Exeter Gently. "They have good players", captain of Exeter Pete Leppan said after the game, "but they are young and still need to develop physically". Exeter by contrast combine pace and power with great technical ability. They used this to devastating effect to come out 10-0 winners. It a title race that could quite comfortably come down to goal difference they will be delighted with the result in this game.

MOM: Ryan Baker

Thank you everyone for a great night of action.
