CHELMSFORD WEDNESDAY 5 A SIDE SEASON FINALE DELIVERS!!

And there we have it, the season finale for our Chelmsford Wednesday night 5 a side league at Great Baddow High School took place on Wednesday and as always it continues to deliver an entertaining evening!

As luck would have it, the first two games of the night were both top of the table clashes in both divisions with 1st and 2nd place fighting to get over the line and win the pride and place as Champions of our first season since the return after COVID.

Where better to start than that of the flagship, the Premiership.. Edens Army were leading the pack by a point and faced OBEX Recruitment who were in second place, chasing them for a number of weeks. Boasting the best defences in the league and OBEX the highest scorers this was going to be a tight close to the season.

With a draw being enough, Edens Army set out not to just settle for a draw and proved their worth as Champions with a hard fought 5-3 win against their OBEX rivals - well played to both teams. Unfortunately this combined with other results caused OBEX to drop into and finish 3rd in the division after The Thumbheads pushed aside Davids Littlens in a 6-3 victory, taking them into finishing in 2nd place.

But it didn't end there, Division 1 was just as interesting as Barrington 5 were sitting pretty at the top of the division and faced their only rivals SIP City who were 2 points behind and a considerable goal difference behind. For us statistics lovers, SIP City needed to win by TWELVE clear goals to prize this title away from the Barrington 5 boys.

A fantastic game that contained only 11 goals, but fortunately for Barrington 5 they only lost the game by 3 goals, being taken down 7-4 - leaving both teams on the same points tally but with a superior goal difference they take the title and experience life in the Premiership for next season.

Well done to all our teams, it's been an exciting season and we look forward to seeing what twists and turns we can get in the coming season.

CONGRATS TO OUR WINNERS:

Premiership: Eden's Army

Division 1: Barrington 5
