The new season of the Grimsby Monday 6-a-side league got off to a thrilling start with some fantastic games. 

Reigning champions The Val started their title defence with a 4-2 win over Toilet Scrubber FC. Michu At De Gea Ba put in a solid shift, winning against Hardly Athletic 7-0. 

New entrants Shardiff City announced their arrival in style, crushing Clee Old Boys 8-0 to go take provisional top spot after round one. They will be someone to watch out for after a performance like that. Koch in Dias got a walkover against 2 Girls 1 Schlupp, playing a friendly instead. You can always do the same when you don't have an official match. Pay and play as usual in a fun friendly, if another team is available! 

Last season's runners-up Omar Bugal cruised to a 6-0 win against Gangster's Allardyce to round off a stunning opening matchweek.
