NEW TEAMS & NEW SEASON UNDERWAY IN HAVANT

Our brilliant group of 24 teams were all out in force last night as the brand new season got underway at Westleigh Park in Havant. The new format of having 4 divisions seems to have been a positive move with a number of closely contested games in each division.

Prem Champions Cardiac Arrest started well against Westy with a 4 - 0 win, regular golden boot winner Ben Johnson underway again with 2 goals for them while new side Hangover 96 put in a good 1st performance to push Puff Puff Pass all the way in their opening night match up. John Derwin eventually securing the points for Puff Puff who won 4 - 3 with an early season hattrick. The final top flight game saw Six Bells Vets go up against OAP's FC in a battle of the two promoted sides. Harry Potter netted 3 for OAP's but 3 from Jordan Stevens, backed up by 2 from Ben Bishop meant it was Six Bells who took the points. The only negative from the night being the red card issued to Six Bells for verbal abuse of the ref, just a reminder to all that this is not acceptable at Leisure Leagues and the player now misses two weeks and has a fine to pay. We will always support our officials and abuse of any kind is not tolerated at our leagues.

Division One will hopefully be as exciting as it was last season with 6 teams that on paper look very evenly matched. Week One has served up 3 great games with Smashers carrying on their strong end of season form into this campaign with a 6 - 2 win over last seasons Div 2 champions Bottle Jobs. Jake Snook making early moves in the golden boot race with 3. Kye Rovers recovered from the disappointment of missing out on the Div One title last week and put in a great performance to take the spoils in their match with RCFC. Jordan Evans doing Jordan Evans things in front of goal as the prolific goal scorer bagged all four for his team who will be looking to go one better this time around. Meat FC came up from Division Two with huge expectation and they met Rapid Decline who saw out the end of last season in the top flight. It was a brilliant game that ended 2 - 2 to leave the Div One table impossible to predict but for now it's Smashers and Kye Rovers up top, how it will look in 9 games time is anyone's guess.

AFC Mole Hill had a great night as they got stuck into Division Two with a 4 - 0 win over The Hurricanes. Ben Horne scoring 3 of the 4 to send the Moles straight to the top of the league. Alongside them after a debut night win are new side PCS Vets who had an Owen Read hattrick to thank for their 4 - 3 win over Emsworth Town. This was another end to end game and fair play to both sides for having a good go, Emsworth will bounce back I have no doubt but congrats to PCS Vets for starting your season with a win. Bub Bub also took home the points in their 1st game against WLR United who took the final place in the league just a few days before we launched so did really well to be competitive at short notice. 4 - 3 in this one, another excellent display of 6 a side football from both teams and another competitive looking division to keep an eye on as the season develops.

Our new Division 3 included yet another team playing their 1st game. Wecock Whippets were narrowly defeated 2 - 0 by Westleigh Rovers thanks to a goal each from Jack Goldring and Gary Davis while Tekkerslovakia had a number of new players involved in their game with WhatDivock. They managed to organise themselves well though and took away a 4 - 1 win to kick off their season. Toby Appleby netted 3 for Peter File in their game with Willian Your Mouth. Sam Clarke was on target for Willian but they start the season with a 4 - 1 defeat.

So a brilliant start to the season all round, thank you to all the teams for being there and especially to the captains for sorting out your sides, hopefully this is the start of our best ever season in Havant. Next week we will be running, the England game is at 1pm so no need for that to effect our games, please make sure your players are ready again as we head for week two.

Massive thanks as always to Mike and the team on the ground, lots to do with new teams arriving so well done to all the officials, I've said it before but we really do have some of the best around on a Monday night. Brilliant stuff from all 4 of them again.

Have a great week guys and good luck in your games next week.
