WESTY TOP AT CHRISTMAS

Our Monday Night teams in Havant faced warmer, wetter conditions this week as we saw off 2022 in style with some brilliant games at Westleigh Park. Local fan club side Westy head into the Christmas break in pole position for the league title, but it's tighter than Ash Hyson's wallet at the top with serial winners Cardiac Arrest only behind on goal difference. The Two sides met last night in what could have been the game to move either side clear of the other and the quality of football from both sides was unbelievable. Forget Argentina Vs France, these two went at it and left everything out there. James Crane was on target with 2 for the Champions but Westy had the razor sharp Toby Appleby in their ranks and his 2 goals ensured the game ended in the most entertaining of draws to leave things as they were going into 2023. Puff Puff Pass had a 5 - 0 points win due to Hangover not being able to raise a side and a space in Div One has now allowed them to make the move down rather than struggle each week getting numbers to play in the prem. We have BIG news on the replacement team going into the prem space which will be announced in a separate report but we wish Hangover well in Division One. OAP's enjoyed a brilliant end to the year with a convincing 7 - 1 win over Six Bells Vets. Pat Needham the man of the moment for them with a fantastic hattrick to move his side ahead of their opponents into 4th and out of the relegation places. It's going to be such an interesting 2nd half to the Prem season, we literally can't wait to see what happens at both ends of the table.

As mentioned already, Hangover slide into Division One because RCFC had to leave, this gave Kye Rovers a useful 5 - 0 win this week and 3rd place in the table going into Christmas, they are a point behind Rapid Decline who sneaked a crucial 1 - 0 win against Meat FC thanks to Declan Hayes' strike. Leaders Smashers were held to a crazy 5 - 5 draw by Bottlejobs who had 3 goals from Jack Heselwood to thank for the well earned point while Jake Snook added 3 more to his tally for Smashers who still hold a 2 point advantage over 2nd placed Rapid Decline

Division Two is brilliantly poised with the top 3 separated by just 2 points and all 3 took home wins last night. Bub Bub beat WLR 2 - 0 and AFC Molehill comfortably got the better of The Hurricanes 7 - 2 with Ben Horne netting a fine hattrick. Unfortunately Keith FC couldn't raise a side so PCS Vets grabbed a 5 - 0 win and remain at the top of the division over the festive period having let just one point slip so far this season.

It's equally tight and exciting in Division Three where Peter File lead by a point following their 2 - 0 win against Willian Your Mouth, Blake Osborne and Drew McGill with the goals to keep their side just ahead of Tekkerslovakia who won well in their match with WhatDivock. 7 - 2 the score with the goals spread through out most of the team. Westleigh Rovers signed off the year in style with an impressive 8 - 2 win against Wecock Whippets. Gary Davies and Jack Cutler both scoring good hattricks to give Rovers a valuable win in the final game for Wecock Whippets. The team has played out their notice and now drop out of the league to leave us on the hunt for a new side to jump into Division 3 after Christmas. This is a good league with some great guys playing in it, any new side, young or old would be made very welcome here so if you have a group of mates that have been thinking about a bit of 6 a side, this is the place to start and with Free entry available, now is the time to do it. Work of those Christmas pounds with some fun football on a Monday night playing on the best pitch for miles around. Interested ? get in touch with Rob on 07538562547 for a chat about getting started or just register now and start playing when we return on January 9th.

Merry Christmas to all our Havant teams and officials. Mike, Jack, Mark and Nathan do a sterling job every week and I've said before we are lucky to have them at our league. We hope you all have a wonderful Christmas and a safe and very Happy New Year. So much to play for when we return to action, it's going to be brilliant to see how this season pans out.

Have a good one guys
