In the world of local football, the Exeter Sunday 5-a-side league just kicked off its new season with an exciting series of matches. The inaugural week showcased the exceptional talent scattered across the Premier League and Division 1, offering adrenaline-pumping football action that left fans on the edge of their seats.
PREMIER LEAGUE
In the Premier League division, the first week was a goal fest with the teams battling it out fiercely on the field. The match between Bikini Bottom Boys and IDIDYAMOTHERWELL was a high-scoring affair, ending with an 8-5 victory for the Boys. Billy Talbot of Bikini Bottom Boys was the standout performer, netting an impressive six goals to establish himself as the top scorer in the Premier League division for the week.
There was also a thrilling encounter between Steau Needarest and Dusty Ballers, with the latter snatching a victory in a tightly contested 9-6 game. Meanwhile, Smeg United also made a bold statement by defeating Scorinbread United 5-2.
DIVISION ONE
In the Division 1, the teams also displayed competitive spirits. Multiple Scoregasms and Barely Athletic ended their clash in a 5-5 stalemate. The match between Queens Park Strangers 2 and Mboomby UTD resulted in a 7-7 draw, with the most valued player of the week, Charlie Carstairs, scoring a remarkable five goals for Mboomby UTD. Meanwhile, 5 Guys 1 Cup FC narrowly secured a win against Bonsai United with an 8-6 scoreline.
As the season has just started, it’s still early days with plenty more football action to unfold in the coming weeks. The exciting start sets the stage for the next round of matches and we look forward to the development of this highly competitive season.
