Exeter was buzzing with football frenzy last night, as week 3 of the local 5-a-side football league, Exeter Sunday, took place across two divisions - the Premier League and Division 1.
Despite the cold weather, the spirit of competition was fierce and the excitement palpable as local teams battled it out on the pitch. Unfortunately, due to certain circumstances, the details for the Premier League division matches were not disclosed. However, the feverish action from Division 1 more than made up for it.
Division 1 matches were a delight for football enthusiasts as they saw 1561 United and Bonsai United engage in a thrilling clash. The match had fans on the edge of their seats, as 1561 United clinched a nail-biting victory with a score of 7-6, courtesy of their star player, Charlien Gibbs, who scored an astonishing total of 5 goals, making him the top scorer in Division 1.
In another exhilarating match, Goon Goblins locked horns with Stella Fellas. The Goon Goblins managed to eke out a 4-3 victory in a tightly contested encounter that showcased the raw talent and gritty determination of the local teams.
The Exeter Sunday football league has truly captured the imagination of the local fans. Despite the high stakes and tough competition, sportsmanship and camaraderie remain at the heart of the league, making it a wonderfully engaging spectacle. The community eagerly looks forward to next week's matches, and if they're anything like this week's, they're in for a treat.
A big thanks to the referee, we really appreciate his ability to cover this league night this weekend!
