THE ELITE - CHAMPIONS OF HEAVITREE

Our Amazing season of 5 a side ended in Heavitree last night in dramatic style with The Elite edging in front of Oldham Pathetic to regain the title by just a couple of points. The two top sides were locked together going into match day 14 with Oldham Pathetic boasting a better goal difference. They just needed a win to retain their title but they met a quality side in Fatzio and despite Craig Allington securing the golden boot with a fine hattrick his side were beaten 6 - 4, leaving the door open for The Elite to snatch the trophy. The former champions didn't say to to this invite and with a Dave Ryder hattrick they won 6 - 1 against Scorinbread to leave the night as champions. Congratulation to them and to Oldham Pathetic who had a brilliant campaign too, this has been one of the great Leisure Leagues title races and it's exciting to see how next season might go with the likes of Fatzio having a full season to make their mark. Peakers Athletic ended the season with a flourish, winning well against St Annes Wanderers while another strong looking side in JP Signs ended their short season with us on a high winning 9 - 3 against Steau Needarest, can they compete for silverware next season ? 

We go again next Sunday with a brand new season and look forward to getting all our teams back to it with a fresh start. This is a popular league at the moment and you can see why with the level of football being played. Great stuff from everyone involved and a huge thank you to Neil for managing things for us on match nights, excellent work as always.
