TITLE RACE BACK ON IN HEAVITREE 5 A SIDE

It was an interesting night at Heavitree Social Club last night as our Sunday 5 a side season rolled through week 12 of action. Leaders Elite had opened up a healthy lead and looked like cruising to the title but this week they came up against an inspired Exeter Gently team who had other ideas. It was a brilliant match with plenty of goals and in the end the 8 - 7 scoreline in favour of 4th placed Exeter Gently was probably well deserved. So with Elite slipping up, title challengers and former Champions Oldham Pathetic took the oppertunity to close the gap and keep the race alive with a 5 - 3 win against Scorinbread. So with 2 games to go there is just a one point gap at the top and so much to play for over the closing weeks of the season. Scorinbread remain 3rd despite this weeks defeat and Exeter Gently sit 4th on 13 points, one clear of Touched By Gough in 5th who won a brilliant match 7 - 6 against Steau Needarest. TBC picked up a good couple of points against Chevalier with an 11 - 4 win to wrap up this weeks action and we can look ahead to next Sundays action.
