In an exhilarating week of five-a-side football, players and spectators alike were treated to a display of unrivaled skill and sportsmanship in the Chatham Monday League. Now into the sixth week of the season, the competition is heating up across all divisions.
DIVISION ONE
In Division 1, Unathletico Madrid and Bligh A Side kicked off the week with a 2-2 draw, suggesting a fierce competition in the league's top tier. The Cream Eggs and Holcombe Goons followed suit, settling for a 4-4 draw in a thrilling encounter. Division 1's top scorer, Sonny Varrall, was a standout performer for Cream Eggs, netting two goals and proving to be a key player for his team.
DIVISION TWO
Division 2 saw some high scoring matches. Cokane United made their presence known with a dominant 6-1 victory over Club Tropicana Drinks FC. Twin City FC also showcased their offensive prowess with a resounding 6-1 win against Gayson Mount. Lloydie Pennant of Cokane United stole the show, scoring a total of eight goals and securing his spot as the top scorer in Division 2.
DIVISION THREE
The third Division wasn't without its share of action. Barely Athletic and Expected To Loose had a tightly contested match, with Expected To Loose emerging victorious with a 4-3 win. Workrate FC and Too Much Radio Not Enough Head also claimed impressive victories. However, the star player of Division 3 was Matthew John of Renegade Blues, who topped the goal chart with four goals.
As the season progresses, the competition is getting fierce and the teams are leaving no stone unturned to claim their stake at the top of their respective divisions. It's clear that the Chatham Monday League is bringing out the best in local five-a-side football, and we can't wait to see what the next week of matches holds.
