Chatham Monday 5 a side returns after Christmas break!
Happy New Year to everyone at our Chatham Monday 5 a side league down at Thinking Fitness, its been a nice little Christmas break but it's great to have football back. The majority of teams were back on the first night of 2023 yesterday, Skinners and Mush Men were not in attendance but will be back next week.
AC Me Rollin remain top of the Premier league after they picked up a 5-0 win with Mush Men away. The win keeps them a point ahead of Cats On Tour who also sealed a victory, beating a dogged Murder On Zidanes Floor side 4-2. Pheasant Pluckers dragged themselves out of the bottom two with a hard fought 4-3 win over Cantium 5s, Mitch Ball with all four strikes.
The big game in Div 1 saw the top two teams meet, leaders Ji Sung Park The Bus proved to strong on the night for Bligh A Side, winning 7-1 to make it nine wins on the bounce this season and secure the title. Ben Martin hit a hat-trick for Beerclona as they cemented their third place finish with a 8-3 win away at Macs who's relegation is now confirmed. The other game saw Scottswood win 6-4 against bottom side Dirt Washers, Gino Fernandez bagging a hat-trick.
Top of the table Skinners were away this week so had to take a 5-0 loss to Woodbleak who played a guest side from the waiting list. The win takes them to within two points of Skinners with a game to go although Skinners hold a big goal difference advantage. Old Willies are still in with a chance of promotion as they sit a point behind Woodbleak, they recorded a comfortable 13-3 win at home to Workrate, Sam Wooder hit five while Lewis Allan grabbed four for Willies. Finally Get Your Scally climbed out of the bottom two with a 8-1 home win against MrsBrandtsBoys.
