SOUTHEND 6 A SIDE MONDAY SURPRISES IN SEASON FINALE!

As we have learned over the years, nothing is a given when it comes to our Monday night league in Southend as we were again treated to some surprises on the final day...

Premiership

Whilst Pooosyhoole FC had wrapped up the title in previous weeks, and Old Leigh Athletic unfortunately relegated already, the rest of the teams were fighting for the right to play in the Prem next season. Our eventual victims of the drop were none other than Cockney Loco, who results all went against them after going down 5-1 to EggFriedReus - who leapfrogged them in the process. This combined with Underdogs persisting through a 3-2 win against an already relegated Old Leigh Athletic meant a long stint in the Prem for Cockney Loco comes to an end, however I don't think they'll stay away for long!

Division 1

Pooosyhoole United had this division wrapped up also, with 9 wins from a possible 10 and a draw the only tarnish on their record. However this story goes to Leigh Bandits, having only achieved promotion last season from Division 2 to Division 1 in coming second, they fought a hard earned 2-1 win over The B Team and were aided by Pathetico Madrid bringing The Rookies down 3-0 to allow the Bandits to steal their second place spot and the right to start next season in the Prem! Congrats!

Division 2

4 of the 6 teams were in contention for the title going into the final day, with both the top two teams - Pathetico Madrid Reserves and Old Leigh Athletic 2nds - bringing home 2-1 and 4-0 wins respectively.. Neck and neck for a while, Pathetic Madrid Reserves pip them to the title not on points... not on goal different... but by a single goal scored! A battle and style of winning we always like to see, and get to experience more often it seems! Congrats to both for a well fought season.
