New Leisure Leagues six a side gets underway
The brand new Leisure Leagues Swindon Monday six a side from Kingsdown School got underway last night with with great anticipation among the players.
It was a tense opening as teams wanted to avoid leaving themselves exposed at the back. However, once teams got into their stride they really started to show what they are capable of and it was clear that the league has some great talent on show.
They were able to show off their skills under the lights and on a fantastic surface which allowed teams to play confidently. The team that seemed to get up to speed the quickest was Tidy Box FC. They were well organised and oozed creativity. They managed to put 5 past Bumfica without ever really getting out of 2nd gear. To their credit Bumfica refused to go down without a fight and they managed to score two in return.
The other early kick off was a much tighter affair. The teams were evenly matched and the game seemed poised on a knife edge. Both teams had chances as the pendulum swung in favour of one team and then the other with neither really able to establish any period of sustained pressure. Eventually though Thiago Silva came out on top by the narrowest of margins. On reflection a draw might have been a fair result but Thiago Silva will not be complaining as they reflect on a good job well done. For Swinn it will be back to the drawing board but they have shown plenty of potential moving forwards.
The final game of the night was a points match and as a result there wasn’t much action to right home about. The only bit of quality in the game was a superb finish from Tidy Box FC which was fired in from a tight angle the ball cannoning in off the bar with such a force that the keeper was left with no chance.
The games leave Paragon FC top courtesy of their points match victory but it was Tidy Box that looked the most impressive of the teams so far. However, it’s still early days and a lot could change.
