Sunday 14th May - Nuneaton Academy Round-Up

The Nuneaton Academy Sunday 6-a-side League continued to captivate football fans with its sixth round of matches on the 14th of May. Despite the absence of Hardly Athletic, who gave a week's notice, the remaining 23 teams showcased their skills and enjoyed a sun-drenched evening's football!

In the Premier Division, Misfits clashed with Borussia Teeth in a gripping encounter. The match ended in a 2-2 draw, leaving the spectators grinning from ear to ear. Both teams fought tooth and nail for victory, displaying exceptional dental fortitude on the field.

Meanwhile, Jack's Army marched onto the pitch, ready to conquer their opponents, Tuffnells FC. The Army's offensive tactics were relentless, overpowering their adversaries and securing a resounding 5-0 victory. Tuffnells FC must have felt deflated, unable to handle the formidable force they faced.

The Extra Special Ones faced off against the Wanyamas in Pyjamas in a closely contested battle. Despite their extraordinary efforts, the Special Ones fell short, succumbing to a 1-0 defeat. It seems the Wanyamas were fully awake and alert in their comfortable sleepwear, making them a formidable opponent.

Gylfis Young Boys were up against the dominant league leaders, The Allies FC. The Young Boys put up a valiant effort, but the Allies' exceptional teamwork and skill overwhelmed them, resulting in a crushing 7-0 victory. The Allies FC continue to march ahead, leaving their opponents in awe of their unwavering supremacy.

In Division One, Homo Sissoko clashed with the table-topping Birdies Boys. The match proved to be a nail-biter as both teams gave it their all. However, it was the Birdies Boys who soared high, securing a narrow 2-1 victory. Homo Sissoko fought bravely but couldn't quite match the precision and finesse of their feathered opponents.

Next, the Dixy Pigeons faced off against The Backstreet Moyes in a battle of wits and agility. In a tightly contested affair, The Backstreet Moyes emerged victorious with a slender 1-0 win. It seems the Pigeons were left cooing in disappointment as the Moyes' defensive resilience prevailed.

Egg Fried Reus took on Rainbow Sparkles in a clash that promised excitement and color. The match lived up to its expectations, with both teams displaying a dazzling array of skills. In the end, Egg Fried Reus emerged triumphant with a 1-0 victory, painting the pitch with their golden touch.

In Division Two, Lad on Toure showcased their dominance against Who Ate All Depays. Schindlers Assist, despite their best efforts, couldn't unlock the Cobras' defense, resulting in a 2-0 defeat. It appears the Cobras made sure their opponents were not assisted on the day.

Jubilee Juggernauts hoped to regain their winning ways against the Wootton Street Wanderers, who had bounced back from defeat in the previous week. However, it was the Wanderers who stole the show, delivering a remarkable performance and securing a convincing 3-0 win to bring the Juggernauts to a grinding holt and wandering where to go from here.

Finally, Lemon Skittles were left with a bitter taste in their mouths after this week, they suffered a 4-2 defeat to Unipart United who pieced together a superb performance to claim maximum points and keep themselves in the promotion race.
