Another Exciting Week of Action at Telford Sunday 6-a-side

In the heart of Telford this Sunday, Week 9 of the Telford Sunday 6-a-side league dished up a series of intriguing matches.
However, the highlight of the night was the impressive performance by Ben Keates of Tea And Busquets as they held the dangerous Colonels to a goalless draw. Colonels came forward in droves with Harry and Harvey both missing good opportunities to score. The highly organised Tea and Busquets made life difficult for their opponents and carried a real threat on the break with Adam and Zak both spurning chances on the counter. Despite putting on great pressure, Colonels were unable to breach the solid Tea and Busquets defence, expertly martialed by Ben and backed up by another fine goalkeeping display by Ikram "The Panther". The result struck a bitter blow to Colonels chances of overhauling Rowdy FC at the top of the table.

Brexit Beautys and Albrighton CC clashed in an intense match that ended in a 2-2 draw. Both teams served up a display of attacking intent in an end-to-end affair.  Brexit raced into a 2 goal lead through goals from Jack and Jaiden but Albrighton came roaring back in the second half to grab a well-deserve draw with Scott and Adam on the score sheet. Both sides piled forward to grab a winner with Albrighton hitting the woodwork twice but the game ended with the points shared.

Meanwhile, Hardly Learning FC  continued their upturn in performances clinching a narrow 1-0 victory over AUFC in a closely contested match. An early goal from Connor sent Hardly on their way and a fine defensive display led by Andy and Aaron ensured AUFC were unable to continue their free-scoring form.

In another match, Rowdy FC managed to secure a decisive 4-1 win against Inter The Pub. Callum Knowles from Rowdy FC proved to be the star man, scoring another goal in his pursuit of the golden boot. Inter the Pub showed glimpses of quality going forward, scoring a great goal through Andy but could not repel Rowdy at the other end. The result leaves Inter struggling at the foot of the table following a tough run of fixtures.

Week 9 of the Telford Sunday league has undoubtedly added more excitement and anticipation for the upcoming matches. With league leaders Rowdy FC showing no signs of slowing down. In the battle for relegation,  Inter The Pub will be looking to pick up results in the coming weeks to keep pace with their rivals as we get closer to the season end.
