OPENING NIGHT SUCCESS for ST NEOTS 6 A SIDE LEAGUE

WHAT AN OPENING NIGHT WE HAD DOWN IN ST NEOTS ON MONDAY NIGHT FOR THE FIRST GAME OF THE NEW 6 A SIDE LEAGUE!

Match 1- DCDC FC 4 - 0 BEER BELLIES

Much anticipation was building for this the first game of our new league and the nerves were showing for both teams early on. A frantic early pace was saw to tire the teams out and leave gaps later on. Naturally judging by the team names, it was the BEER BELLIES who used their keg up first and was running dry allowing for DCDC FC to pull clear with some classy goals from Nathan and Sam.  Beer bellies had a chance to bring themselves back into the game as keeper come striker had the chance for a worldie of a volley but failed to connect with the ball.... As the game closed out, another few goals were slotted by DCDC to run away with it.

MVP- Ryan T

Match 2- ASTON VILLAGERS 5 - 0 TIGGLE PIG

Tiggle pig showed up with all the enthusiasm in the world but sadly the love for the game didn't equate to a result as Aston Villagers scored at regulars intervals to ease their way to an opening day victory to send their fans into dream land and hopes of winning the coveted St Neots Monday 6 a side league title. After such a performance the bookies have slashed the price on them winning the league into 3/1.

Alex and Gaz both started the season strong with a couple of goals each and captain fantastic himself Lewis grabbed his yearly goal and a nose bleed for being so high up the pitch!

MVP- Gaz

Match 3- THE KIDDOS 0 - 1 DOLCE & LALLANA

The tightest of the league matches between 2 very evenly matched 6-a-side sides. Both keepers produced great performances to keep the game in the balance. A great finish from Alfie gave Dolce & Lallana a slender advantage which they would hold onto! Into the last few minutes the Kiddos were piling on the pressure with tactics a prime Tony Pulis would be proud of but unfortunately for them they couldn't knock down the door! Joe in the Kiddos goal, made a few late saves to give his team hope but all was in vain eventually.

MVP- Joe

Match 4- LAW ABIDING SIGURDSSONS 3 - 2

In our final match, our newest team Law abiding Sigurdssons, had a game to bed themselves into the style they wanted to play throughout the season! Judging by their keepers general madness in thinking he was Messi, a few times trying to run the length of the field, conceding goals may be a slight concern for the season! After taking an early 2-0 lead they were pegged back until in the dying embers of the match, up stepped Louis 'The ginger Ronaldo' to riffle home into the bottom corner and send the thousands of watching spectators into pandemonium!

NEXT WEEK promises to have more fireworks!
