NEW EXPANDED SEASON UNDERWAY IN PORTCHESTER

It was a frustrating wait over the two bank holiday weekends but last night we finally got to kick off the brand new season of 6 a side in Portchester and welcomed some new teams to the set up along with a couple of returning old ones. With a 10 team division now it will be a relatively short season of 9 games before we expand again out to 12 teams and two divisions. So a good start is crucial and Lightfoot certainly made that with a 10 - 3 win over Occasionally United to take the early lead. High As A Kuyt had to settle for a 5 - 0 points win due to the no show from Gangsters Allardyce, incredibly frustrating and disappointing after all the communication sent to teams in the build up to this season. We will find out what happened today. Borussia Donmund picked up a 6 - 4 win against Who Asked V2 and FC106 edged past Who8AllThePie 2 - 1 in good starts for both teams while the biggest surprise came in the final game of the night where long time league champions and rarely ever defeated Swan Lake went down 5 - 3 to new side Doormats FC. Are we seeing the start of a changing of the guard in Portchester or was it just a blip from a complacent Swan Lake side ? I guess we will find out over the coming weeks but it certainly sets up an exciting Monday night season in Portchester.

Thanks to everyone for being there and good luck in week two next Monday.
