PORTCHESTER THURSDAY ROUND UP

It was a good night down at Portchester Community School last night as our Thursday night 6 a side league rolled through week 5 of the season. Full Kit Wonkers had a good win against Who8AllThePie, Matthew Page netting 6 of their 10 goals with only a Joe Neely effort offering any consolation for Who8 who will look to bounce back next week when they face AFC Purbrook. Purbrook are in good form themselves though so it could be a great match up. They had Rob to thank for a solid 9 - 0 win this week over new side Cob FC. Rob's 4 goals, backed up by a couple each for Tony and Liam making sure that Purbrook took home the points. Cob will look to kick start their season when they face Happy Sunflowers next Thursday. Sunflowers were away this week which gave Sergio a 5 - 0 points win to see them remain top with maximum points.

Division One had some tighter games this week with leaders Lads on Toure being held to a 2 - 2 draw by Portchester Athletic, a result that give Athletic their 1st point of the campaign and gave Sigurdsson's the chance to leap to the top of the table. Unfortunately for them they met a very motivated Chicken Tikkataka side and were beaten 4 - 1 by them. Tom Burnett scoring twice for Tikka. The final game to report was the 5 - 3 win for BSC Hung Boys over Pants. Kai bagged a hattrick for Pants but goals from the boots of Brandon Croft, Greg Webb, James Mullin and Matthew were enough to give The Hung Boys the points this week.

Thanks to all the team captains for getting their sides sorted this week and of course to our officials for reffing the games. Great to have this league full again, we are still interested in new teams signing up, we will look to expand the divisions again asap so if you have a team looking for some Thursday night action in the Portchester area please get registered now for just £5 in September and we will have you playing very soon.

We also have space on a Monday night, with a new season starting soon it would be a great time to jump in over there and get involved.
