RUGBY TUESDAY 16TH JULY - LEAGUE ROUND UP

Rugby Tuesday 16th July

Including this evening there is just 12 points to play for this season, and we look set to go to the wire with both our top two locked on 15 points each pre-match. Even third were just 4 points behind second, and so again, we can’t rule out a change here either. The returningBlockburn had the unenviable task of putting a blemish in Pumas Vets superb form book. Fair play to Blockburn, they didn’t look phased and gave it a good shot, but ultimately come up short as Pumas move onto 17 points. Over to Ballotellitubbies then to see if they could do like for like and keep level pegging with Pumas. Bacon Sane are a dangerous proposition. These lads understand each other’s game and their passing and moving game is decent. Question was always going to be whether Sane could control the ball for long enough and eat up enough minutes to restrict tubbies from carving out plenty of chances. That did seem to be the case and almost managed to nick a point off Tubbies, if it weren’t for a speculative effort from distance which somehow beat the Sane keeper. A bit fortuitous, but Tubbies also move onto 17 points. The regiment enter the fold at Rugby Tuesday after their previous stint at Leisure Leagues. These boys are just getting in the groove and took on an experienced Benteke Fried Chicken side. That said, the game was closer than may have been expected. Credit to The Regiment for making  a real game of it (particularly second half), but left it a bit too late in the game to really up their game and so fell short by a couple of goals. Finally 5th spot Exeter Gently entertained 3rd placed Netsix & Chill. On league form Netsix were favourites (marginally). However the ability and squad strength Exeter have is much better than their league position suggests and  they certainly made life difficult for Netsix. Both sides countered well and defended resolutely, but essentially cancelled each other out    over the course of the game . A point would have been a fair reflection possibly, but Netsix bag the win and stay in the hunt for second spot.
