Div 1 title race wide open at Ryde Thursday 6 a side

We had a full turn out last night for match day 10 of our Ryde Thursday 6 a side league where the battle goes on for promotion in Div 1 and Geezas Return moved a step closer to reclaiming their crown in the Premier League.

We start our round up in the Premier League where the top two faced each other, East Ryde needed a win to draw level on points with Geezas while a Geezas win would see them go 4 points clear at the top. It was multiple title winners Geezas who stepped up to deliver a winning performance to seal it 8-4. With just 3 games to go now it would be a huge upset for them not to secure another title. Scouting For Goals bounced back from defeat last week to win 7-0 against Roverners and are now up to second on goal difference. Goals from Gallop 3, Austin 2, Phillips and Bonner for Scouting. KJ Warrington and Val Isaac were on target as Sat Fesh narrowly won 2-1 against Netsix & Chill while a game full of goals between Goldies and Butlins end 10-4 to Goldies.

There was no change at the top of Div 1 as the top three teams all won but it remains close going into the final three weeks of the season. Ryde Rovers won 4-1 against Ashton Villa III with goals from Spike Pearce 2, Harrison Ward and Kieran Sanderson. Chamakh captain Adam Jupe banged in 4 along with goals from Josh Wotherspoon 2, Owen Miller and Charlie Clarke to beat Cool Runnings 8-3. Getting On A Bit have turned a corner in recent weeks no doubt helped by the introduction of Spike to the squad who was on the scoresheet 4 times as they won 8-3 against Class On Ash. Clarke Bowerman and Danny Murphy also grabbed themselves braces. Finally Vectis Rovers remain in the promotion race as they won 2-0 against Going Toulouse with Gaz Scott-Jackson and Sam Utteridge scoring.

Thank you to all our teams and to our refs Jukesy, Calum and Nick. See you all next week for match day 11. Thanks Rich
