Goals Galore at Ryde 6 a side

Our ever popular Thursday night 6 a side league at Ryde Academy played out week 4 of our season last night with a brilliant set of games on the recently re-laid 3G playing surface. We welcomed Sean and his team Miami Casuals for their 1st game and what a start they made to their Leisure Leagues campaign. Facing last seasons Divison One Champions, Scouting For Goals, the new boys went behind early but soon found their way and went on to comfortably win their debut game15 - 5 Jacob Reynolds and Luke Phillips both scoring 5, backed up by a hattrick for Jordan Brown. Kyle Follows bagged 4 for Scouting who suffered a few injuries during the game and find themselves 4th in the table, ahead of defending Champions Ryde Rovers on goal difference. It's been a difficult start to the season for the champions, like it was for Netsix at the start of last season, defending the title seems to be quite a challenge in this league such is the competitiveness. It all clicked into place this week though as Rovers came away 7 - 3 winners against the early season pace setters Sat Fesh. Netsix have carried on their form from the back end of last season and currently look like the team to beat as they proved too strong for FC Union Street, winning 13 - 1 to take over at the top on goal difference. East Ryde Massive took a 5 - 0 win as McBallers couldn't get a side together this week. So it's an exciting start to the Premier League with 3 teams sitting on 6 points, keep eyes on Miami Casuals though, just 3 points off the pace. This has potential to be the best season we have had in this division, lets hope the goals keep flowing.

Division One has 2 sides edging clear at the top after 4 weeks. Both Chamakh and Goldies have maximum points from their 4 games, Chamakh in great form last night against Vectis Rovers, winning 13 - 8 in an absolute goal fest. Thomas Miller netting a double hattrick with Jon Drakeford and Adam Jupe also slotting in 3 each. Goldies won too, in a comparatively quiet game, their 2 - 0 win against Roverners came courtesy of goals from Jamie Dyer and Gavin Prescott. 3rd placed Interurnan came from behind in their game against Khedira Pin Drop to win 4 - 2 with last seasons MVP Keaton Clinton showing his class with a hattrick to seal the points for his team. There was to be no dream sign off for Getting On A Bit who signed off on their Leisure Leagues campaign with a 5 - 4 defeat to Butlins Bandits. Getting On have been with us for many years and hopefully will be back soon but their aging bodies have picked up some injuries recently so they are taking a break and we wish them well and thank them for their involvement over the years. Their place will be taken by another old favourite at Ryde as we see a welcome return to action for Ashton Villa who will be with us after the Bank Holiday break.

So there are NO GAMES next Thursday (2nd June because of the Queens Jubilee celebrations, we return to action with week 5 of the season on Thursday 9th June - We will have one space to fill so if anyone is looking for a Thursday Night 6 a side fix on the Isle of Wight, look no further than this brilliant league.

Have a good week off guys, see you on 9th June !
