Isle of Wight 6 a side - Ryde Thursday League

Another great night of action at Ryde Academy last night as our Thursday night teams went at it for week 5 of the season. There were some quality performances in both divisions with plenty of goals as well.

Up 1st in the Premier league were Vectis Rovers and East Ryde Massive who showed their class with a 7 - 2 win. Harrison Taylor scored another 5 while Henry Allen and Jack Hill also got on the scoresheet. Vectis never give up and Chris Joliffe and Ryan Godley gave them something to cheer with a goal each but it was East Ryde's night to celebrate, taking home the two points and remaining in the top two. Ryde Rovers remain up there and like East Ryde are still unbeaten following a tight and feisty game with last seasons champions Netsix & Chill. Rovers just edging it 5 - 4 at the final whistle. Ashton Villa continued to look strong having been promoted last season, they went home with the win this week after a 7 - 3 result against Roverners, Liam Freemantle and Asa Gough with two each the main contributors for Villa. Finally in the top flight we saw Crouch Potatoes come unstuck against a strong Sat Fesh side. Paddy O'Meara bagged a hattrick and James Gallop scored two for Sat Fesh while Harry Symes got both of the Crouchy goals.

Division One kicked off top Vs bottom as Scouting For Goals looked to continue their unbeaten start to the season while Goonies went on the hunt for an upset and their 1st points. This was some game and not the one sided affair that the league table suggested it could have been. Jamie Dyer inspired a valiant and much improved performance from The Goonies, scoring 4 of their 6 goals while fellow veteran Mark Graffam got the other two. In the end Scouting were just too strong though, Brad Austin keeping up his excellent goal scoring form with 4 while James Gallop and Matt Bennett both bagged hattricks to take the two points with an 11 - 6 win. Well played both teams though. Khedira Pin Drop looked good for their 6 - 4 win against Butlins Bandits. Captain Owen Connolly inspiring his troops to victory, helped by hattricks from Brad Austin and Harry Scott while Aaron Doncaster, Josh Aspinall and Zach Wood all scored for Butlins who remain 2nd despite their 1st defeat of the season. An improved Venom City side then upset Getting On A Bit's charge for the title with a 4 - 3 win over the experienced side. Venom benefiting from a larger squad and player rotation to come through with the win in a very tight match. Two goals from Callum Pye and one each for Tom Brunton and Nick Gregory eventually proving to be enough. Chris Cole and Elliot both on the scoresheet for Getting On. Last up was another lively contest between Chamakh and Interurnan. Chamakh just edged this one 5 - 4 thanks to a Thomas Miller hattrick to give Chamakh their 1st points of the season while Inter sit mid table after 5 weeks.

Thanks to Chris and Nick for keeping their cool on a competitive night of football, the leagues are starting to take a bit of shape now so it will be exciting to see who kicks on and ends up having a great campaign.

See you all next Thursday !
