PUYOL UP TO 2ND IN RYDE THURSDAY 6 A SIDE

Ryde Academy was a buzz of excitement last night as all 16 teams rocked up in the hunt for league points as round 4 of our season played out. Goldies got their season up and running with their 1st win thanks to 4 goals from striker James Connor. Jamie Dyer and Craig Mason chipped in with a couple each to give their team a much needed lift as they recorded the 9 - 4 win over Kirbs return. Guns N Moses put in a much improved performance this week, looking more like the title pushing team of last season but they faced a strong Puyol side who have won all 3 of their games since returning to the league, including this one last night. They move up to 2nd place and are well positioned for a title charge in the new year. Champions Sat Fesh will have different ideas though and they picked up a 4th win from 4 to maintain a perfect start to their title defence. Nick Chessel was the star of the show in a competitive game against Ryde Galacticos that could have gone either way but some quality saves from Connor Venn in goal for Sat Fesh kept his side in front when it mattered and at the final whistle it was a 7 - 5 win in the bag. Roverners good start to the season has started to tail off a little but the promoted side should be pleased with where they find themselves after 4 weeks. Last night they went very close to securing another well earned point but just fell short against an excellent looking Unathletico Madrid team. Dan Johnson scored 3 for Unathletico, including a fantastic freekick which will be in our FB group and will probably feature on the national LL pages too, absolute rocket from him . It was great to see Jon Drakeford back playing at Ryde and his 6 goals kept Roverners in the hunt but they remain on 5 points and sit 4th following the defeat. The prem looks really strong this season with a number of quality teams doing their thing each week. Pretty exciting to see how the results play out over the next few weeks before we break for Christmas.

Division One is equally as competitive and entertaining to watch. Butlins Bandits are top but 2 points separate the top 5 so it can all change pretty quickly. Josh Aspinall continued his goal scoring form with 4 backed up by 3 from Jamie Long to give the leaders a 10 - 3 win over Grand Theft Porto who continue to develop and improve as a side. They are yet to register a win but goals from James Brewer, Sam Littlemore and Oakley Froment will give them some positives to build around. Milfclarters lost for the 1st time this week as they went down 6 - 4 against Royal Mail-Drid. Shane Batchelor's well taken hattrick the difference with his side climbing to 4th following the win. Hants FC got an important win on the board in their game with Chamakh. This was an excellent game, end to end throughout and Hants only nicked it by a single goal in the end. Simon Knight and Ritchie Foot both scoring a brace in the 6 - 5 win for their team. There was plenty of passion on show in the last game of this round up as Vectis Rovers took on Khedira Pin Drop. Michael Jenkins netted twice for Khedira while Tony Pearce bagged all 3 of the Rovers goals as the game ended 3 - 3 which seems a fair result with both teams giving everything to find a winner.

Another superb display of games then this week, loads of it caught on camera so keep your eye on our socials for footage. Big thanks to Nick and Pete again for a great night on the whistles and well done to all the players for being there and making the night happen.

See you all next week.
