Ryde Thursday 6 a side goes ahead just about!

The weather a couple of hours before kick off last night threatened to cancel the nights football as half the floodlights were taken out by a lightning strike around 5pm. Thankfully the remaining lights gave off just about enough light to allow the night to go ahead and the rain actually stopped until a downpour in the final match of the evening.

All 10 teams were in attendance despite the weather and lights desperate to get that last bit of football in before the Christmas break. At the top of the table Salt & Pepe are top of the tree at Christmas as they beat Roverners 6-1. Back to winnng ways are Geezas Return who bounced back from a draw last week to win 8-0 against Butlins Bandits in a match that was very tight during the first half but the 6 times champions eventually broke down Bandits to make it comfortable in the second half.

In other fixtures Chamakh who are starting to get back to full strength defeated Blue Ball 6-2 to stay third while the other matches were very close encounters as Getting On a Bit narrowly defeated Wight United 4-3 while Vectis Rovers came from 4-2 down to beat Class On Ash with a last minute winner. Goal of the night has to go to Ash though after an outstanding strike from distance into the top left corner. Unstoppable!

Thank you to all teams on a great season so far and have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. See you on the 9th January
