THURSDAY NIGHT 6 A SIDE - RYDE Isle of Wight

What a brilliant night of 6 a side we witnessed last night at Ryde Academy for our Thursday night league. The new season is now two weeks old and credit to all the players, it's been a fantastic start to the season.

New comers Crouch Potatoes have settled into Leisure Leagues life so well, playing some lovely football against an experienced team in Vectis Rovers, to win the game 7 - 2 shows some real quality in their side, definitely ones to watch as the season develops. Ben Cutts and Josh Winter both netted hattricks for their team who get their 1st win under their belts. Sat Fesh had a fairly comfortable night, winning 10 - 1 against Roverners despite going behind early on. Ryde Rovers picked up their 2nd win in as many games to start the season well but boy did they have to work for it in a brilliant match that finally ended 6 - 5 against Ashton Villa. Asa Gough netted 3 for The Villa but two each from Billy Scott and Louis Strickland was enough to just edge this one. What a game though!

Equally exciting and even more tense was the top of the table clash between last seasons champions Netsix & Chill and old rivals East Ryde Massive.  On this occasion it was East Ryde who came out on top in an absorbing game that could have gone either way. We saw some great goals and some brilliant saves but in the end Harrison Taylor's 5 goals were enough to sent East Ryde to the top of the table with a 6 - 5 win. Great match between two quality teams played in exactly the right spirit. Leisure Leagues at it's very best here!

Into Division One where we had Getting On A Bit playing some great football in their 6 - 3 win over Chamakh, James Hazel with a hattrick to keep them top. Scouting for Goals are right there too with 4 points from their opening couple of games, James Gallop tapping in 4 and Kyle Fellows 6 for them as they got the better of Interurnan 11 - 6. Four goals for Elliot Dwyer in vein for Inter. Gallop was on target again for Khedira in their 7 - 6 win over The Goonies, who, like Chamakh and Venom City are still searching for their 1st points. Goonies will feel they deserved something from this game, it was close from start to finish and i'm sure that 1st win is just around the corner for the Arsenal supporting team. Venom City were up against a strong Butlins team this week, Aaron Doncaster on target with 4 for them while Owen Connolly chipped in with 2 which proved enough to take the points with an 8 - 4 win to wrap up this weeks report.

I hope everyone enjoyed the night, shout out to Chris and Nick who both reffed brilliantly and thanks again to all the players for making it a fun night.

So much to look forward to with this season, can't wait for next week already.
