It was a good night of football at Shrewsbury Leisure Leagues on Monday which saw all teams in attendance as scheduled. We were delighted to welcome Charles Darwin and Potters FC to the league who both made their debut.
In the Premier League division, WBS FC demonstrated a master class in football, beating Potters FC with a whopping 12-1 scoreline. Josh Lewis-Duckett emerged as the star of the match, netting an impressive 5 goals for WBS FC and securing his position as the top scorer in the Premier League division.
There were close encounters between Hardly Athletic and Charles Darwin, and FC BACK OF THE NETO and Goals Aloud, with both games ending in a 2-2 draw. These results showed the sheer competitiveness in the Premier League division, with teams fighting tooth and nail for the top spots.
In Division 1, there were equally gripping matches. Welshpool Wanderers fell to KFC 4-1, while Wetherspoons Wanderers were bested by Verve FC 4-1. A standout performer in the division was a player simply known as Tate from Verve FC. Tate's brace led his team to victory and made him the top scorer in the Division 1 this week.
FC Shrewbacca and Straw Hats offered a display of balanced football, with their match ending in a 2-2 stalemate. Meanwhile, Grange R Us were unable to withstand the might of Halfway Wanderers, ending the game with a 0-3 loss.
