Monday 19th September - Worcester Sixways Round-Up

It was a good evening's football in the Worcester Monday 6 a side leagues this week, with all teams in attendance throughout the night to end the season and some fantastic matches played across all three divisions!

In the Premier League division, Phoenix emerged as the champions, collecting a total of 18 points and a stunning eight wins throughout the season. The final match saw a riveting showdown between Phoenix and Sporting Abeergut, with a staggering 8-2 victory for Phoenix, a result which saw final day drama reminiscent of Premier League 2012 as that result saw Phoenix take the title on goal difference as Class on Artifical Grass, needing only a single point suffered a 3-2 reverse in their game against Clash of Dudes!

The competition was just as fierce in Division 1, where Daddy Ben took the crown with an impressive 19 points and nine victories. The final week saw them suffer a 4-1 reverse against Inter Yanan, but the title was already sewn up due to their far superior goal difference, although Texas Oldham secured their promotion and finished level on points with the winners, they were 4-1 victors over Inside England to ensure Premier Division football next time out. Crouch Potato and Salty Sea-Men ended their game in a thrilling 4-4 draw, showcasing the high level of competition in the division.

In Division 2, Full Kit Yankers dominated the field, clinching the title with a whopping 20 points from their nine victories. Their final week triumph was a hefty 7-0 win against Indra.  Second place was taken by Madeleine Milan who edged past Unathletico Madrid by 2 goals to 1 in a gritty performance.  However, the division saw some tough competition, with the match between Chunk And The 7 Dwarves and Backstreet Moyes ending in a narrow 3-2 win for the former.

We wish all teams good luck going into the new campaign which kicks off on Monday 26th September, and welcome new team Pepe Pig to the action on their debut as they replace the outgoing Pickle Pinchers.
