Monday 6th June - Worcester Sixways Round-Up

It was another good evening's football in the Worcester Monday 6 a side league this week for the first games of the new season, the only disappointment being a non-attendance from Hayley Beanie's Boys who had a few late dropouts but have confirmed to return on Monday 13th June.

We welcomed two new teams to the league this week for the new campaign, both of which went into the Premier Division and had tough first games.  Pickle Pinchers were beaten 4-1 by Tics on Toure, whilst Jewventus suffered a 6-0 reverse to Greyhound FC.  Both will be looking to improve in the coming weeks as they get used to the league after a few more games.

Other action saw Champions Phoenix run out 5-3 winners against Rodallega Bombs in a thoroughly entertaining game as last seasons Division One Champs gave a good account of themselves in their first Premier Division game.  Chateuneuf Du Pape completed the divisions action, and after staying up on goal difference last season got off to a fine start with a 3-2 win over Woodgreen.

Division One saw Route One Rovers claim a convincing 6-1 victory over Crouch Potato as the two relegated teams met in the first week of the season, whilst Who Ate All Depays were 4-1 victors against ABCDE FC in an encouraging first game of the season.  Elsewhere Goals Aloud edged past Inter Ya Nan in a closely competed game in which they eventually ran out 2-1 winners.

After joining mid way through last season and having a good record, Salty Sea Men will be looking to gain promotion this season from Division Two, a 5-3 win over Bendtner Over was a perfect way to start the season in achieving this.  Nomers were 4-2 winners over Plunger & Superglue in another entertaining game, whilst Rybrook Raiders came out on top over Malvern Massive in a game they won 3-1.  Relegated Route One Rovers got off to a solid start as they were 1-0 winners over Balt-J FC.

We wish all teams good luck going into game week 2 with Worcester's premier providers of small sided football!
