Wednesday 15th February - Worcester Sixways Round-Up

It was a good evening's football in the Worcester Wednesday 6 a side league overall.  We were however disappointed to see a non-attendance from ITL United who we have now removed from the league with immediate effect.

We welcome new team 'Exeter Gently' into Division One as a replacement for the above and wish these good luck heading into their game on Wednesday 22nd February.

Sporting a Beergut also cancelled their game but return to action on Wednesday 22nd February, under a new team name Fatletico Madrid.

Chicken Ball FC claimed a hard earned 2-1 victory over Coral FC this week as they kept their place at the summit on goal difference, whilst Small Pond had a 5-0 walkover due to the above cancellation. The top two meet next week in what promises to be a thriller as it could well be the title decider!  Defending was definitely not top of the agenda in the Dales Sixes v Wednesday Social game this week, as Dales ran out 12-5 winners in an epic encounter!  Elsewhere Murder on Zidane's Floor looked written off two weeks ago as they were pointless, however a draw last week and a 3-0 win this week over Up The Alma sees them right back in contention of survival if they can get the right results from the last three.

As you may have expected, in the Division One clash of the top two there was nothing to choose as Expecting Toulouse and Claines FC shared the spoils in a 2-2 draw keeping them as they were in the table.  That result however couldn't have been better for New Inn FC who took full advantage with a 4-1 victory against Paris Ganja Man to go joint on points with the teams above them, they face Claines next week in a huge game.  Another team right in the mix is fourth placed Lads on Toure, who's 1-0 win over Werder Beermen sees them just a point off the summit too, leaving all to play for at both ends of the table going into the final three weeks.

Another clash of the top two took place in Division Two, and saw leaders Brap FC beaten 3-2 by Enter Team Name who gave themselves a shot at claiming the title in the last three weeks.  Any hopes Gotta Die For 3 Pints may have had of sneaking in the top two seem to have evaportated now after they were beaten 4-2 by Sporting Bad Haircuts, whilst fourth placed West Ham Sandwich overcame Ruud Van Nipplejoy by 3 goals to 2 in another entertaining encounter.  The action was completed by Nag Shuts who bounced back from last weeks defeat to run out 2-1 winners against Bifta Lifta United (formerly Jew-Ventus).

We thank all teams for their reliability and commitment to the league which keeps us running on time and smoothly each week, and wish all good luck heading into game week 12 with Worcester's premier small sided football providers, and biggest and most successful Wednesday league!
