Worcester Wednesday 6-a-side League: Three New Teams Debuted Amidst Thrilling Matches


Game week 9 of the Worcester Wednesday 6-a-side league witnessed a fantastic turnout with 29 out of 32 teams taking to the field. While 'Sporting A Beergut' and 'Fred West Ham' were absent but set to return for game week 10.

Small Pond FC failed to attend without prior communication, which was a disappointing way to end their stay in the league, they have now been removed and replaced with new team 'Ooo Aah Slavia' who we wish the best of luck going into their debut game on 24th May!

Encouragingly, the league also welcomed three promising new teams who made their debuts with mixed evenings, showing great potential for the future. Let's delve into their performances and the thrilling match results.


Premier Division:

Scranny Bao, the newest addition to the Premier Division, faced a tough challenge against fourth-placed Dales Sixes. Despite losing 5-0, Scranny Bao put up a spirited fight, displaying determination and skill. Their commendable performance showed that they are a team to watch out for in the coming weeks.

Division Two:

Benchwarmers United, another fresh face in the league, kicked off their campaign against Tupsley FCC. In an exhilarating encounter that showcased end-to-end football, Benchwarmers United suffered a 6-3 defeat. However, their performance indicated their potential to grow and compete fiercely in the division.

Division Three:

Largentina, the newly introduced team in Division Three, made an explosive debut, romping to an impressive 8-0 victory over MoistCabbage. Their fantastic start displayed their attacking prowess and hinted at a promising future in the league. Largentina's presence adds an exciting dynamic to the division.

In addition to the new teams, the matches in the other divisions also provided plenty of excitement and thrilling results. Here's a roundup of the remaining fixtures:

Premier Division:

New Inn FC and Coral FC engaged in a tightly contested battle that ended with New Inn FC securing a narrow 3-2 victory. This impressive win propelled New Inn FC to the third spot in the division, highlighting their potential to challenge the top teams.

Expecting Toulouse faced a daunting task against BRAP FC, who maintained their stellar form with a resounding 5-1 triumph. BRAP FC's dominant display showcased their position at the top of the table, boasting eight wins from nine matches.


Division One:

Cats on Bikes continued their remarkable run since joining the league, securing their third consecutive victory with a convincing 4-1 win over Up the Alma. With this triumph, Cats on Bikes moved within a point of the top spot, as the top two teams suffered defeats.

Nunnery Wood Veterans clashed with Enter Team Name FC, but it was the latter who emerged victorious with a commanding 5-2 scoreline. Enter Team Name FC showcased their attacking prowess, leaving their opponents with a challenging task.

Lucozade Sports put on a breathtaking performance, decimating Gotta Die for 3 Pints with an emphatic 11-0 victory. This win marked Lucozade Sports' third triumph in four matches, propelling them to fifth place in the division.

In an intense encounter, Lads on Toure battled it out against Claines FC. Despite their best efforts, Lads on Toure fell short, succumbing to a 4-2 defeat. Claines FC's resilience and clinical finishing proved to be the difference-maker.


Division Two:

Manchesthair Unknotted faced a tough challenge against Bley You Off the Park, ultimately suffering a 3-1 defeat. Although Manchesthair Unknotted couldn't secure a win, their performance showcased their determination and skills on the field.

Nag Shuts FC went head-to-head with Cottagemixedgrill FC, the current leaders of Division Two. Cottagemixedgrill FC continued their impressive campaign with a 3-0 victory, maintaining their slender one-point lead at the top of the table.


Division Three:

Murder on Zidane's Floor aimed to make their presence felt against Warndon FC, but it was Warndon FC who dominated the match, securing a resounding 6-0 victory. Warndon FC's attacking prowess left their opponents searching for answers.

In a high-scoring affair, Banditos FC faced the might of ArrowXL FC, who emerged triumphant with a commanding 7-0 win. ArrowXL FC's exceptional performance displayed their talent and ability to overpower their adversaries.
