Great start to our new Bury St Edmunds Monday league!
A fantastic start to our Bury St Edmunds Monday 6 a side league as the season got underway last night. We have all been waiting for a return to football so it was a great to be back out on the pitch. It's been a hard year for many and it's amazing just to be able to see mates for a kickabout whatever the result. Thankfully all matches looked competitive so no one went home after a 20-0 defeat which is always good to see.
So with it being the the first week and a brand new league it's hard to tell which teams are going to push for titles, promotion or fight to escape the drop but we can take a quick look at the results from match day 1.
In the Premier League Unathletico Madrid are the early leaders as they enjoyed a 3-0 win over Built Different FC. They are followed closely behind by Cunch O' Bunts who produced a solid display to win 2-0 against The Dream Team while the other team to pick up a win on the opening day was VWL who edged it against AC AlittlesilouetteoofMilan 2-1. The match of the day in the Prem was between two strong sides as Show Me The Mane and Dream Team shared a 4-4 draw in an end to end encounter.
Real Ale Madrid go top of Div 1 after a 5-0 points match win. Thank you to Cunch O' Bunts for staying on to play them due to the last remaining space in the league. Hopefully this will be filled shortly. Zara Barbs FC are second as they secured a fairly comfortable 5-2 win against 2 Girls 1 Schlupp. Dunk N Donuts took the points with a 5-3 victory over Tuddenham Rangers while Sunil Chhetri FC won 2-0 against Teenage Mutant Ninja Skrtels.
A big thank you to all 15 teams plus our match night supervisor Brian and refs Kevin and Chris. We are just waiting for confirmation back from The Skyliner Sports Centre to see if they are open on Easter Monday next week. We will be in touch with all captains as soon as we know.
