Week 5 of the Bury St Edmunds Tuesday 6-a-side football league did not disappoint as teams from the Premier League, Division 1, and Division 2 divisions returned to the pitch for some thrilling matchups.
Premier League
In the Premier League Division, Dickins Cider FC controlled the field with a resounding 10-2 victory over Rise and Grind, largely thanks to the top scorer of the division, Tommy Wright, who netted four goals for his team. However, the night's standout performance was delivered by Mums Hot Sociedad, who edged out Quaresma Balls 4-3 in a nail-biting contest. From the Sociedad side, Benjamin Fry, who was named the most valued player of the week, showed a commendable performance.
Division 1
Meanwhile, in Division 1, Jewventus outclassed Athletic Bilbarrow with a 7-2 victory, while Dunk N Donuts pulled off a narrow 3-2 win over Cougar Choppers. The top scorer of Division 1, Alex Chapman, contributed significantly to Dunk N Donuts' victory with his two goals.
Division 2
The games in Division 2 were equally exhilarating. Barely Athletico proved their mettle with a 3-1 win over Two Girls One Klopp, while Silva Surfers managed to overcome Hungry Hippos with a 3-2 triumph. The spotlight, however, was on Ashton Fretwell of Silva Surfers, who topped the goal-scoring chart in Division 2 with two goals.
This week's games have certainly set the bar high, and as we move further into the season, we can expect the intensity and excitement to only increase. Stay tuned for more updates on this exhilarating league.
