OFF AND RUNNING IN THE STOURBRIDGE MONDAY LEAGUE!

A fantastic return to 6-a-side football in the Stourbridge Monday League with all teams in attendance and accounted for. It was also great to welcome all new teams 'Murder On Zidanes Floor', 'SYD FC', 'SH Dons', 'Stella FC', 'Bayern Neverlosen' and 'Man Red FC'. They all put on very good showings for their first games of the season and we look forward to seeing how they all progress as the season moves forward. Good luck to all teams for the new season!

Unfortunately we did have some disciplinary issues in the game between 'Pipe Dream FC' and 'Expected Toulouse F.C.'. George Bentley and Jake Anslow were sent from the pitch for 'Pipe Dream FC' after receiving two yellow cards for some unsportsmanlike conduct to the opposition and for some abuse towards the referee which means both will be fined £10 and banned from the league for one week. It is important that all teams remain within the rules of the league and it is important to remember that any disciplinary issues will be dealt with swiftly and accordingly.

On more positive news, game of the night in the Premier Division this week goes to the game between last seasons Premier Division winners 'That Peter Crouch Team' and Division One winners 'Crep City FC'. In a hotly contested game it was 'Crep City FC' who were able to build on their form from last season and come out 2-1 winners. With how close all the games were in the Premier Division it sets the league up well as we go into the rest of the season.

Two games really stand out in Division One but it was the final game of the night that is the game of the night between 'Paris Ganja Man' and 'Nitty Committee FC'. A ten goal thriller that 5-5 in a very evenly matched contest but was great to see the goals flying in during the game. With a 4-4 between 'We Don't Give A Flying Duck FC' and 'BFF United' as well in this league we look forward to seeing the goals fly in week in and week out as the season plays out.

The game of the night in the brand new Division Two was the game between 'Bayern Neverlosen' and 'Call The Cops FC'. Two similarly able teams that served up a cracker but it was 'Bayern Neverlosen' who came out on top 2-1 and taking the bragging rights this time. With how close the games were in Division Two as well we are looking at Three very evenly matched leagues. Can 'Call The Cops FC' get there revenge when the two teams meet again later in the season?

Team of the week for this week has to be the early Premier Division league leaders 'Wolves Ay We'. A very impressive 7-0 win against the league veterans of 'Inter Mi'Bathams' shows there intent from the off. With this performance they are making an early push to show there title credentials, next up 'West Midlands United F.C.'.

As you can all see above a quick reminder that the centre is closed Monday 5th April 2021 due to it being Easter Monday and will resume Monday 12th April 2021, see you all then for the second game of the season.
