In a thrilling week 9 of the Stourbridge Monday 6-a-side football league, teams across all six divisions battled it out for supremacy in their respective tiers.
The Premier League saw AFC Vexham clinch a vital 2-0 win over Stourbridge Olympic while Wheres Your Man FC edged out Unprotected Cesc 2-1. In the final week of the league Stourbridge Olympic will have to put up a significant fight if they are to beat Celta Allstars in the last game of the season.
Division 1 was a rollercoaster, with Big Stiff Chip Butty managing a narrow 5-4 victory against BBF United. LABEL FC exhibited an impressive performance, dispatching Baz Ball FC 6-2. Finally VI Inches Combined beat Bunting Mental 2-0 in a composed victory.
Division 2 had its fair share of upsets. Bayern Neverlosen succumbed to a 4-2 defeat against Piqué Blinders, while Mirage United managed to scrape a 1-0 win against De Jong Boys. West Midlands United fell to a 2-1 defeat against Notting Yourmumsforest.
In Division 3, Genoa Side trounced Hwang Onasec 7-2, and Scran City suffered a 3-0 defeat against Reserve Squad V2. Next week Paralympique Marseille face Scran City in an exciting mid-table clash. It will also go down to the wire as Genoa Side and Reserve Squad V2 will battle it out to claim the Division 3 title!
Division 4 saw Athletic Dildao manage a narrow 2-1 victory over Peter Larsen Kaffe. Cott Lane Colts and Spignif Allstars fought to a 1-1 draw. Waggon Wonderers also put in a significant performance to beat This Is Plough We Do It and boost themselves into the promotion places!
Finally, in Division 5, Gylfi As Charged overcame Danny Gs Henchmen 3-1. Inter Mi’Bathams demonstrated their dominance with a 6-1victory over The Unbelievable Lads FC. An intense matchup between Hickory's Allstars and Still Trying FC was played out with the latter triumphing.
In a week of thrilling football, the standout team across the divisions was Reserve Squad V2 as they beat their third place rivals Scran City 3-0 in a thrilling game!
