In the thrilling opening week of the Stourbridge Monday Football League, teams across all divisions displayed exemplary performances, leading to nail-biting finishes. The six-a-side football contest certainly started the season with a bang. Unfortunately, we did have one non-attendance in Waggon Wonderers. We will be in contact with their team captain to ensure their return to the league next week.

In the Premier League division, Unprotected Cesc edged out Celta Allstars in a tight game finishing 3-2.  Another notable match saw LABEL FC outdo Big Stiff Chip Butty with a 3-1 victory. The final match also saw AFC Vexham edge out Wheres Your Man FC in a very tight game which finished 1-0. 

Division 1 witnessed some high scoring games, with De Jong Boys defeating Baz Ball FC 6-3 in a thrilling match to watch as a neutral. Next week De Jong Boys face Stourbridge Olympic who will be looking to gain their first match of the new season however will be a tough task against the third-placed side. 

In Division 2, Genoa Side triumphed over Inter Mi’Bathams, with a solid 2-0 win as both sides put in an excellent performance however Genoa Side provided the cutting edge. Another exciting game saw Reserve Squad V2 overcome Bayern Neverlosen 4-2. Bayern Neverlosen will look to sure up their defence in the coming weeks. 

Division 3 staged a high scoring game with Scran City clashing against Notting Yourmumsforest, resulting in an 8-5 finish in favour of the latter. Paralympique Marseille also ensured they picked up a victory pipping Atheltic Dildao by one goal as they won 2-1. 

Division 4 saw the Spignif Allstars outshine Hickorys Allstars with a 7-0 victory. Hwang Onasec also put in an excellent team performance against Expected Toulouse FC 5-2. Finally, This Is Plough We Do It and Gylfi As Charged played out a thrilling 3-3 draw!

Lastly, in Division 5, Peter Larsen Kaffe narrowly defeated The Unbelievable Lads FC 2-1 in a tight game which either side could have won. Still Trying FC and Danny Gs Henchmen drew 2-2 where neither side could break the deadlock.

The team of the week is given to Spignif Allstars as they hit the ground running to beat their opponents in exciting fashion and set themselves in good stead for the rest of the season.  Next week they face This Is Plough We Do It in an important matchup for both sides. 


Overall, the opening week of the Stourbridge Monday Football League demonstrated high-energy performances, leaving fans anticipating the forthcoming matches.
