ANOTHER SEASON UNDERWAY IN STOURBRIDGE!
A fantastic start to the new season of 6-a-side football in the Stourbridge Tuesday League and with all teams in attendance as expected.
Unfortunately we did have an injury in the first game of the night between '50 Shades Of O'Shea' and 'Troey's Rentboys'. The player in question is in hospital with a dislocation and break in the ankle region of the body and has been operated on today to fix this. The league would like to wish the player in question a speed recovery and hope he is back on the football pitch soon. It goes without saying the game in question was abandoned and will be replayed at a later date. Apologises for any delays this may have caused on the night but health will always come first at any league nights Leisure Leagues run.
In other news it was also great to welcome new team 'Springfield'. They put on a very good showing for their first games of the season and we look forward to seeing how they all progress as the season moves forward. Good luck to them for the new season!
Game of the night in the Premier Division this week goes to the game between 'Stourbridge CC' and 'BH Darlings'. A very tight affair that saw two evenly match teams playing out a very close game and saw some wonderful goals by both teams as the game ended 3-3. With how tight this game was who will be the title challenges for Premier Division as the season progresses?
Another 3-3 draw was game of the week in Division One as new team 'Springfield'' and 'S Side Bby' played out a fantastic first game of the season. Fantastic to see as this was a very tight division last season and it will be interesting to see if it can be tight again. Who will come out when all is said and done when the season ends in February?
Sitting top of Division One after week one 'FC Celta' are our team of the week. A standout 4-0 win against the renamed 'Milano Nob City' means they are showing there intent to win Division One this season. As they go into week two will anybody knock them off top spot?
