All the latest news for the Stourbridge Tuesday 6-a-side League direct from Stourbridge Rugby Club.
A great start to the new league season in the Stourbridge 6-a-side Tuesday League with a night full of entertainment and goal scoring with all teams in attendance as expected.
It was also great to welcome new teams 'OTR FC' and 'Resonance FC', who both put on valiant showings in there first games at the league and will look to build on this in the weeks to come. Good luck to both teams moving forward!
Premier Division game of the night has to go to the game between 'BH Darlings' and 'Is It Half Time Yet?'. Although fiery at times 'BH Darlings' were on form to take the 2-0 win and therefore start on a positive note to start the season. How high can they go as the season progresses?
The standout game of the night in Division One was between 'OTR FC' and 'Haven't Got a Kalou' where the latter came out winners despite a great game from both teams with the final scoring being 2-1. This close victory in Division 1 shows there might not be much to separate the teams as they begin to find their feet as the new season continues. Both teams played right to the end to try and snatch the victory however, it was goals from Joe Morgan and Ryan Wilkes that secured the win for 'Haven't got a Kalou'. On a side note, there was an injury during this game to an 'OTR FC' player that meant a short stoppage to the evening. Although the in question will need a few weeks for his knee to heal it is not a serious as first thought just so all teams know. We wish him a speedy recovery and hope to see him again soon!
The first team of the evening goes to 'Innocent till Proven Gylfi' as they began the season with an excellent 8-0 victory over their opponents which is one way to make a statement to the rest of the league. This victory puts them straight to the top of the league. It was an excellent team performance in all positions helping to supply the goal scorers. We look forward to seeing if they can continue as the season progresses past the early stages.
