Plough return to best form as they look to challenge Lads

On the opening night of the Leisure Leagues Swindon Thursday six a side from Swindon Academy we welcomed three new teams to the league as part of the expansion to ten teams. Nevertheless it was business as usual for The Lads who picked up where they left off last season with a convincing win against BA Boys.

The first game of the night saw new team Wellensball FC take on 1980s Legends. It was a tough game for the new team but they dug in, kept their shape and created good chances when they had the opportunity. Ben Langley got the only goal of the game for Wellensball which means they secured a win on their first appearance.

In Game 2 The Lads picked up where they left off last season with a thumping win against BA Boys. The final score was 9-0 with four goals for Sam Crawford, a brace each for Ben Baker and Steven Nesbitt with the final goal coming from Dean Deville.

In the next game new team Super Snails benefitted from a points match victory to secure a 5-0 win. They played a friendly against The Lads and it was clear to see that the boys can play. They will be a threat to The Lads later in the season.

Next up and The Plough took one new team Speedbird. The Plough look like they are back to their best after a difficult couple of seasons. They gave Speedbirds a rude awakening  to the league with an 11-0 annihilation. Goals were spread throughout the team, Padge getting 3, Ash *finally* scoring and bagging two, Captain Mouse also getting two, new signing Ryan helping himself to two, Aj scoring with a top bin finish and Ollie rounding out the scoring. Speedbirds will no doubt adjust to the league and come back stronger next time but Plough will hope that this strong performance is one to build off for the season ahead.

In the final game of the night Spezial took on Lean Team. In what was a tight game the final score eventually finished 1-1. Goals came from ex-captain of Spezial Jordan Watts and Kurt who got the equaliser for Lean Team. Both teams are hoping for better seasons than they had last time but will be disappointed not to secure the win on this occasion.

As things stand the league currently has ONE SPACE FOR AN IMMEDIATE START. However, this league is easily one of the most exciting in the SWINDON area so make sure you get involved with the best provider of six a side football in the world by signing your team up fast!
