Sunday 12th February - Swadlincote Round-Up

It was a good evening's football in the Swadlincote Sunday 6 a side league this week which saw all teams in attendance throughout the night as scheduled across the division which was pleasing to see.

Leaders Deportivo De La Zouch had a tough first half against a dogged Lawnmower FC who made it tough for the top team, going in at half time with the score at 2-1.  In the second half though the champions found their groove and three further goals from Michael Jones saw them run out of sight and end up 5-1 winners as their class showed.

Budweiser FC secured second spot for this season as they were in the end comfortable 4-0 winners over The Underdogs, the game could've been very different in the early stages though but for a few missed chances by the new side, eventually though class shone through and Budweiser were clinical at taking their chances which proved to be the difference.

Paralympiakos leapfrogged their opponents in the table as they won a closely fought encounter against Corona Rovers, one goal the difference between two evenly matched teams as it ended 1-0.

Game four of the evening saw Maradona Kebabs claim their first win since joining the league and did so in fine fashion as they romped to a 5-1 win over Boom Xhakalaka in a closer competed game than the scoreline suggests.

Please note that from Sunday 19th February, Maradona Kebabs have now changed their name to Swads Unfittest.

We thank all teams for their continued reliability and commitment towards the league which keeps the league running on time and smoothly each week too.  As ever, if you have any queries regarding the league, you can contact Shaun at Head Office on 0333 123 2340.
