Sunday 19th March - Swadlincote Round-Up

It was a good evening's 6 a side football in the Swadlincote Sunday league this week, with all teams in attendance throughout the night as scheduled across the division.

Deportivo De La Zouch made it three wins on the spin this week but had to work for the points, they went in 1-1 at half time against Corona Rovers, who could've taken the lead early in the second half.  The champions may not have been at their best this week but as all good teams do, found a way to win when playing poorly and ended up scoring a further three goals in the second period to run out 4-1 winners.

The Underdogs sit in second place and remain undefeated, they won a close encounter against Paralympiakos by a single goal, having only scored two and kept three clean sheets at this stage of the season they remain a tough nut to crack.

Swads Unfittest are in a similar vain to the above and have an identical record, getting their second 1-0 in three against Athletico De Swad who had chances of their own, Swads clean sheet record remained intact in part thanks to a great penalty save by keeper Luke, and their goal continued to lead a charmed life as Athletico hit the crossbar from 20 yards out, Unfittest managing to see the game out in the end and take the points.

Unfortunately for Lawnmower FC they were unable to put in a close performance as they were dominated by Budweiser from start to finish, the latter running out comfortable 10-1 winners owing to a four goal haul by Neil, with Leeroy and Ben grabbing a brace each too.

We thank all teams for their continued commitment and reliability towards the league, and wish all good luck going into game week 4 with Swadlincote's premier providers of small sided football!
