Sunday 1st October - Swadlincote Round-Up

Match results in the Leisure Leagues Swadlincote Sunday 6-a-side league on Sunday, 1st October, for the second game of the new season featured some superb matches played in the right spirit.

Game 1 - Underdogs 0-0 Budweiser FC

In a clash between two top teams from the previous season, the final score didn't reflect the action on the pitch. It turned out to be the best game of the evening, showcasing a plethora of skills from both sides. Both keepers performed admirably. Budweiser FC was awarded two free kicks, just on the edge of the box, with one almost resembling a penalty. However, the referee deemed it to be just outside the penalty area, forcing both teams to share the spoils.

Man of the match: Ben

Game 2 - Deportivo De La Zouch 2-0 Autismo Allstars

This was a very good game, with a fantastic performance from Autismo Allstars' keeper, John. However, his efforts couldn't prevent his team from losing. Jack gave his team the lead in the 11th minute of the match (0:1). Just two minutes into the second half, Harry doubled the score (0:2).

Game 3 - Barely Athletic 4-0 Paralympiakos

Barely Athletic put on a great show, taking the lead after just 2 minutes (1:0) and scoring again another 2 minutes later (2:0). They went into halftime with a commanding 3-0 lead after a scintillating first-half performance. The second half was more evenly matched, with both teams putting in their best efforts, but no one could score until Tommy found the net in the last few seconds of the game. The goals included one from Dan and a hat-trick from Tommy. Notably, Barely Athletic's keeper, Joe, remains the only unbeaten goalkeeper this season.

Game 4 - Villa Wycombe 3-1 Isn't It FC

The new Villa players performed well and applied considerable pressure on the new team's defense. Fasil scored the quickest goal of the season in just 1 minute, giving Villa the lead. Both teams found the net in the 7th minute (Fin for Villa and Tom for Isn't It). Sam secured 3 points for Villa Wycombe with a goal towards the end of the first half (3:1). It was a fantastic performance from Isn't It FC's goalkeeper, who saved at least 7 should-be goals.
