Sunday 20th August - Swadlincote Round-Up

The Swadlincote Sunday 6-a-side Football League continued to thrill spectators and players alike in its 10th week of action. With the Premier League division taking centre stage, intense matches unfolded, leaving spectators on the edge of their seats.

BUDWEISER FC 5 - 1 LADS ON TOURE

LADS ON TOURE made their return to the league but faced a tough challenge against BUDWEISER FC, who were the runners-up in the past two seasons. Despite the challenge, BUDWEISER FC secured a convincing 5-1 victory. The team's goals were contributed by Joe, Dylan, Jordan, and a double from Luke. Unfortunately, LADS ON TOURE decided to withdraw from the league due to a lack of commitment. Next week, we welcome the new team Autismo Allstars as their replacement.

BARELY ATHLETIC 3 - 3 DEPORTIVO DE LA ZOUCH

In an exciting match, the young players of BARELY ATHLETIC displayed their determination by holding their ground against the reigning champions of the past two seasons, DEPORTIVO DE LA ZOUCH. BARELY ATHLETIC took an early lead, making it 1-0. However, DEPORTIVO DE LA ZOUCH quickly equalized, making it 1-1. BARELY ATHLETIC managed to pull ahead with two more goals, leading 3-1. However, DEPORTIVO DE LA ZOUCH, known for their championship-winning mentality, fought back with two late goals, resulting in a 3-3 draw.

GAVATASARAY 1 - 2 THE UNDERDOGS

An action-packed and entertaining game unfolded between GAVATASARAY and THE UNDERDOGS. Both teams showcased their skills and determination in an intense battle. GAVATASARAY took the lead with a goal from Warren, making it 1-0. However, Kieran's exceptional performance allowed THE UNDERDOGS to level the score at 1-1. Erik's goal later in the game secured a 2-1 victory for THE UNDERDOGS, maintaining their position at the top of the league table. Notably, THE UNDERDOGS boasted the strongest defense in the league, as evidenced by their performance.

VILLA WYCOMBE 1 - 2 PARALYMPIAKOS

A closely contested match unfolded between VILLA WYCOMBE and PARALYMPIAKOS, characterized by mutual respect from both teams. Kuba's goal gave PARALYMPIAKOS a 1-0 lead, followed by a mishap in the VILLA WYCOMBE defense that allowed Jake to capitalize, extending the lead to 2-0. VILLA WYCOMBE displayed great effort to stage a comeback, eventually scoring through a fantastic finish by Carl, bringing the score to 2-1. The match ended with a sense of what-ifs, as VILLA WYCOMBE's late efforts fell just short.
