Sunday 24th September - Swadlincote Round-Up

Match results in the Leisure Leagues Swadlincote Sunday 6-a-side league on Sunday, September 24th, marked the commencement of the new season, featuring some outstanding matches played in the true spirit of the game.


Game 1 - Villa Wycombe 1-1 Autismo Allstars


In a highly competitive encounter, both teams provided great entertainment for the spectators. The match remained evenly poised for the first 10 minutes until Reece broke the deadlock, putting Autismo ahead. Villa Wycombe had several opportunities to score, but Autismo's goalkeeper, John, delivered a fantastic performance, preventing any further goals. It took another 10 minutes before Bailey equalized for Villa Wycombe. Ultimately, both teams shared the points.

Game 2 - Isn't It FC (Debutant team) 0-4 Barely Athletic


Isn't It FC, making their debut, faced a tough challenge against Barely Athletic. Despite their mutual respect for the game, Barely Athletic emerged as the dominant side, with goals from Kane, Kian, and a double from Tommy securing the 2-point victory.

Game 3 - Paralympiakos 2-0 Budweiser FC


This high-paced and entertaining match turned out to be the biggest surprise of the evening. Paralympiakos took an early lead in the 6th minute when Tom scored from outside the box. Budweiser FC attempted to level the score, but Paralympiakos' solid defense thwarted their efforts. The game became even more challenging for Budweiser when Maciek extended the lead to 2-0.

Game 4 - The Underdogs 1-2 Deportivo De La Zouch


In a clash between two spirited and skilled teams, The Underdogs struggled in the absence of their top goalkeeper and some key players. Michael's double secured the victory for Deportivo De La Zouch, while Lewis managed to score one for The Underdogs.


It appears that this season promises to be exceptionally intriguing, with the previous season's winner and runner-up both losing their opening games.
