Weekly News Update

Catch up on how our Monday night 6 a side league at The Vyne School right here, right now!

Thankfully we can continue the trend of very successful evenings, with every team happy and satisfied with their games at the end of the night, which, of course is what we aim to achieve.

Another big thank you to the referees on the night, who are always there 10 mins early to help set the pitches up, ready to get the games started on time and running as smooth as possible, no matter the weather, as Monday night proved with the awful conditions.

The team chosen for team of the week this week goes to 'Haven't got a Kalou'. admittedly they were only against one of the leagues struggling teams, but as can happen with a lot of good teams against the Minos  of the league, they can relax and expect an easy win. This was not the case with 'haven't got a kalou', they even sat back and allowed pressure at times, which shows they went out with a game plan. For me, they were just solid and well organised in all areas as always and as the score line suggests, hard to break down defensively. Clearly ones to watch for the title race.

Haven't got a kalou vs Man Chest hair United was our first game and what a game it was, one that was far more entertaining than the score line suggests. The game was very end-to-end and full of chances from both teams. I would say the possession stats went in favour of 'man chest hair united', though this was mostly down to 'haven't got a kalou' appearing to adopt a sit back and counter attack kind of game plan, which isn't their usually game plan, but it seemed to work for them. As mentioned earlier, the score line doesn't suggest a hugely entertaining game, but how misleading that is! The low score going was largely down to the 'man of the match' Corey Webb, who had an outstanding game in goal for 'man chest hair united', so much so that nearly all the players from the opposition marched straight over to him to congratulate him on an amazing performance and demand the referee awards him MOTM.

Our other MOTM awards went to James Hudson from 'Sperm tour fc', who is becoming a frequent winner of the accolade and is now joint top of the 'most valuable player' table on 2 MOTM awards.
