Cesc back on top of Div 1 at Abingdon Monday 5 a side

It was a lovely evening for 5 a side down at Tilsley Park as our Abingdon Monday 5 a side league edges towards its conclusion next week with the new season starting on the 20th September. There are still a couple of spaces left for next season so new teams get registered soon to avoid the waiting list.

AFC Wantage move another step closer to that perfect record this season in the Premier League as they made it 13 wins on the bounce with a 7-3 victory over Poortugal. The race is on for the runners up spot as Hadland Rovers held on to it with a 11-6 win over Basically Barca. Fruity Spartans are just a point behind as they won 9-3 against Hardly Athletic. Cooper Trooper's picked up a points match win in the end due to Victorious Secret failing to appear for their game. We will be confirming Secret's continuation before next weeks matches.

Unprotected Cesc went top of Div 1 as they won 8-4 against FCUOB, this win coupled with a 9-5 loss for Sex Drugs and Carlton Cole against Abingdonny's saw Cesc move above Cole and go a point clear. Abingdonny's are also not out of it yet as they moved to within a point of second. In other results new team Only Put Matip In found it tough going as they went down 17-2 to Where's Mike Gale while in a very low scoring game Murder On Zidane's Floor edged it against Substandard Liege winning 1-0.

Div 2 Champions Ivory Toast can celebrate despite going down 9-2 to Survey Monkey's last night. Monkey's needed the win to keep alive their promotion hopes as they stay two points behind Norfolk N Clue who beat 2 Girls One Schlupp 4-2. The last game of the season next week see's Monkey's take on Norfolk in a winner takes all clash to secure promotion. Expected Toulouse unfortunately weren't able to attend this week so lost ground in in the promotion race with Relegations Rovers picking up a points match win to keep up their hopes of survival. In the other match Cunning Stunts beat The Sticky Bandits 3-1 to stay level on points with Rovers going into the last game next week.

In Div 3 we know Royal Madrid and Don Johnson are promoted but who will seal the title. Royal Madrid remain top on goals scored as they picked up another win last night beating Oxford Hit Squad 7-3 while Don Johnson had a points match win with The Score Hero's not able to attend. In the other league match Romania took on new boys Intayanan and won 13-2.

Thank you to all our teams although there was a couple of teams not in attendance. Please remember to give us 7 days notice if you can't attend otherwise if you are a couple short use the flexi squad system, Facebook group or transfer market and get guest players in, it's why we allow teams to use guest players. Thank you to all our refs and our match night supervisor Dean who only arrived back from holiday yesterday but made the commitment to get down and run the league. Much appreciated. Thanks Rich
