Match day 4 results - Abingdon Monday 5 a side

It was match day 4 at our Abingdon Monday 5 a side league from Tilsley Park last night. There were some great games throughout the divisions and new leaders in Div 1.

We start in the Premier League where reigning champions Ivory Toast had a 10-5 victory against Royal Madrid to maintain their 100% start to the season. Green Goblins are keeping pace though and only a point behind as they defeated Fruity Spartans 4-1.

We have new leaders in Div 1 as Unnamed 31 year old Everton Players went top on goal difference, AB's All Whites are second after a points match win with Kick It In The Net-ics facing All White's in the points match to secure the win.

Hardly Athletic produced a fine display to win 4-1 against Sporting John and continue their revival in Div 2 after relegation. The other two games were extremely tight as FC Unts hung onto second spot despite a 4-3 loss to Sevilla Depression while Champagne Super Rovers edged it 2-1 against Survey Monkey's.

There where some excellent games to keep us entertained in Div 3 as leaders The Sticky Bandits were held to a 3-3 draw by third place Goals Aloud while in an even higher scoring draw Substandard Liege and Scumbag shared the points in a game that finished 5-5. In the other game Cunning Stunts climbed out of the bottom two with a 7-2 win at home to Intayanan.

The Village are proving to be a cut above the rest in Div 4 and to think they were worried about going into a higher division. This week they sealed the points with a 10-0 win over Relegation Rovers. Second place Expected Toulouse won 4-3 against McFatty's while Only Put Matip In defeated Fearless Duck 6-2.

Big thank you to all our refs last night. However it was disappointing to hear that a minority of players in a couple of games choose last night to overstep the line and abuse refs. I hate having to wake up to cards being put through because of abuse/dissent but at no point should any of our refs receive any sort of abuse whether their decision is right or wrong, they haven't got VAR, they are human and they will get decisions wrong now and again as players do. I know the majority of teams and players are very respectful so this is not aimed at most and the players involved last night will have a chance to redeem themselves after their bans have been served or fines paid. Most small sided suppliers don't choose to broadcast any issues, rather choosing the easy option of ignoring them and letting players get away with it. I want all teams and refs to feel something will be done about abuse or over aggressive teams or players. Please feel free to contact me regarding anything if it is constructive and you feel it can help improve the league. Thanks Rich 07969 731086.

Please remember there is no league next week on Easter Monday. Happy Easter everyone, Rich
