New Season underway at Abingdon Monday 5 a side!

It was great to kick off our new expanded 32 team 5 a side league at Tilsley Park Abingdon last night. Overall it was a good night although unfortunately two of the new teams let us down. We will be contacting them this week to confirm if they will be starting in the league. Apart from that the other 30 teams were all in attendance and all teams got a match.

One of the new teams entered are AFC Wantage who requested to go into the Premier League and they started the season with a 12-4 win over promoted side Basically Barca to go straight to the top. Reigning champions Coopers Troopers got their title defence off to a winning start as they secured a hard fought victory over Hardly Athletic 5-3. Fruity Spartans who just missed out on the title on goal difference began with an excellent 4-2 win over Hadland Rovers while Club Tropicana Drinks FC edged a high scoring match with Victorious Secret 6-5.

Sex Drugs And Carlton Cole began their first match in Div 1 after relegation with a good 6-1 win against Kante to go top. FCUOB who just missed out on promotion last time out started with a 5-3 win over Substandard Liege. Both the newly promoted sides got off to winning starts as Abingdonnys defeated Where's Mike Gale 4-2 while Unprotected Cesc won an amazing match with Y.G.V.2 9-8.

The Sticky Bandits look to be Div 2 title contenders this season as they dominated their match with 2 Girls 1 Schlupp winning 10-1. Expected Toulouse go into second spot after a 9-6 victory against Survey Monkeys. Ivory Toast will be looking to push again this season after just missing out on promotion, they began with a 4-1 win over Norfolk N Clue while Cunning Stunts were also victorious on the opening day of the season as they beat Class On Grass 4-1.

Finally we move into the new Division 3. The Score Heros and Oxford Hit Squad ended up recording points match wins each as both their opponents failed to appear. Thankfully they were able to play each other so still got a game. We will be confirming with United United United and Planning United if they will be coming next week. The two league matches saw Royal Madrid who have moved over from our Oxford Park league pick up a 6-3 win against Romania while She Was Only XI defeated Tass 4-0.

Thank you to all our teams and to our match night supervisor Dean with refs Warren, Martin and Ian. See you all next week for match day 2.
